Appreciation post: The guy who brought a full binder of house rules to game night

Last week at our local library's game night, a new guy showed up with a three-ring binder. It had color-coded tabs for different games, each with printed sheets of his personal rule tweaks. He spent twenty minutes explaining his 'improved' version of Catan that used a second dice for random events. Honestly, it was kind of amazing. Has anyone else run into a player this prepared to change the game before even playing it?

We just tried his Catan rules and they were actually fun. Sometimes the extra prep pays off.

Wow, that level of prep is next level. My friend did this with a custom Risk board and it totally changed the game for our group. Some people just have a real gift for making old games feel new again.

Seriously? A custom Risk board sounds wild. What did they change about the map that made it better?
