That power outage at my condo board meeting flipped my whole take on group chats
The projector died 20 minutes into the agenda at the Harborview meeting last Tuesday, so we had to vote on the $12,000 roof repair using a paper towel and a stolen pen, and now I honestly think tech makes decisions worse, has anyone else had a simple screwup fix a mess they thought needed software?

The paper towel vote probably got more thought than any ballot app would have. When the tech fails, people are forced to actually talk to each other instead of reacting to push notifications. We had a similar thing at our building when the online voting portal locked everyone out, so we did a show of hands. Turns out the roof guy had been overcharging us for years, but nobody ever read the digital reports that were always posted. The old way makes you look at people's faces when they disagree, which changes how you argue. Software gives you speed, but it also gives you distance, and distance is where bad decisions hide.
