She called me last Tuesday out of nowhere, crying that she'd finally filed after 22 years of marriage, and the first thing she said was that everyone kept telling her to 'fight for it' when she was actually fighting for herself. It hit different because I've been the jerk who told friends to 'just communicate more' without knowing that some things aren't fixable, and her situation had way more layers than I ever guessed.
