Got my old Game Boy working and the battery lasted longer than my phone

Dug out my 1995 Game Boy from my parents' attic, popped in 2 AAAs, and beat Tetris for the first time in 25 years during a 4 hour flight. Has anyone else found old tech just works better when you're not constantly updating it?
