I finally quit my job of 9 years and it took me 14 months to actually do it
I gave notice at my property management company in March of 2023 after working there since 2014. The actual quitting part, the walking in and saying the words, took me 14 months from when I first knew I had to leave. I did everything to avoid it. I updated my resume 6 times. I talked to a career counselor for 3 months. I made a spreadsheet of pros and cons that was 40 rows long. My sister finally said to me, "you are not deciding, you are just stalling," and that hit hard. The weird part is once I said the words out loud it took 20 minutes total, my boss just nodded and asked when my final day was. All that dragging out was me, not the situation. Has anyone else put off a big change way longer than the change itself took?
