Hot take: I thought those meal prep delivery boxes were a scam until my sister in Boise showed me her grocery bill
I always figured paying someone to send me raw ingredients was just throwing money away when I could hit the store myself. Then my sister pulled up her app and showed me she was spending $68 a week for 3 dinners for 2 people, and my own receipts from WinCo were running $110 for the same meals. I tried it for a month and my food waste basically vanished because everything comes pre-portioned. Anyone else crunched the actual numbers on this or am I the last one to figure it out?
Tbh the big thing nobody talks about is how much you save by not wasting food. I did the same thing and tracked it for two months, and the box came out cheaper once I factored in all the stuff that used to rot in my fridge. My advice is pick the plan with the fewest meals first, since the per serving price drops hard once you bump it up.
