Got laid off on a Tuesday, had a new job by Friday at a bakery on 9th Street
My boss called me into a conference room on a Tuesday and said the company was cutting 30% of staff, so I walked out with a box and a pit in my stomach. I applied to 14 places that night out of pure panic, mostly stuff I was not even qualified for. Then a bakery on 9th Street called me back the next morning and asked if I could start Friday, and now I make $2 more an hour than I did at the old job. Has anyone else had a layoff turn into something better this fast, or did I just get weirdly lucky?
