I finally got that stuck seatpost out of a 90s mountain bike frame

Tried the ammonia trick after soaking it for 3 days and it actually dropped right out, has anyone else had luck with that method or is there something else that works better?

Had a buddy try the same thing on an old Schwinn frame. He let it soak for a whole week with the ammonia and when he went to tap it out the seatpost just slid out like it was greased. He said the worst part was the smell though. His whole garage reeked of ammonia for days.

Oh absolutely, @nina_johnson86, your buddy nailed it. That ammonia trick works like magic on stuck seatposts, but man, the smell is no joke. I did the same thing on an old Raleigh from the 70s, left it soaking for about five days, and when I tapped it, the post slid right out like butter. The garage stank so bad my wife made me leave the door open for a whole weekend, and even then the neighbors complained. I ended up having to air it out with a fan for like a week before the smell finally faded. Totally worth it for a clean frame though, just plan on not using that space for anything else for a bit.
