Wrote off the 5 minute pre-shift huddle at the diner for 2 years, turns out it actually cuts down on ticket mistakes
My manager at the diner in Tacoma started doing a 5 minute huddle before every shift about 2 years ago, and I thought it was just corporate fluff. Last Tuesday we went over the new ticket system for the third time and I actually caught that the kitchen changed the modifier for no onions, which saved me from sending back 4 orders that night. Before the huddles we were averaging probably 6 remakes a shift during dinner rush, and now it feels closer to 1 or 2. I'm still not a fan of the 8am ones, but I'll admit it works. Anyone else have a work meeting or ritual they hated at first and then realized was actually helping?
