Zelle sent $340 to the wrong person and bank said tough luck
Was paying my landlord last Thursday. Typed in his number one digit off. Money left my account instantly. Called the bank and they said Zelle transactions are final. There's no recovery process. The person who got it won't answer my messages. Now I'm out the rent money and the landlord wants late fees. Anyone else had Zelle screw them over like this?

Totally, had a buddy do this exact thing with his electric bill payment and the guy who got it basically ghosted him for a month before finally sending it back, but only after my friend offered a $50 reward (like that should even be necessary).

The bank said tough luck" - that's the part that gets me. It's not just Zelle, it's everything now. Payments are instant but fixing mistakes takes forever. I've noticed a pattern where companies make things super easy for themselves but leave us hanging. Like how you can't dispute a charge on some apps, or how customer service lines make you jump through hoops for hours. It's like they design these systems knowing that most people will just give up. Your landlord shouldn't be hitting you with late fees either, that's just piling on when you're already screwed. Honestly feels like we're all just expected to be perfect all the time or suffer the consequences.

Gonna have to disagree a bit. Putting money into Zelle is basically like handing someone cash - there's no safety net because that's literally how it was designed to work. Companies aren't trying to screw you, they're just following the rules of a system that was built for speed, not do-overs.
