Talk with a teller at my old bank branch made me rethink everything
I was at Chase last week to deposit a check from a landscaping job and this older teller I'd known for years started chatting. She said younger people come in all the time asking why they can't just use their phone for everything, but she's seen a ton of fraud cases from mobile deposits that could have been caught at a counter. Made me realize I've been lazy about checking deposits myself and just trusting the app. She's been doing this 30 years, so maybe I should listen more. Has anyone else had a bank employee change how you handle your money?

And that's why I always do big deposits in person now...

Agree with @drew690, doing cash deposits in person saves the headache. Last time I tried to split a big check between accounts online it got flagged and held for a week. Just walk in and hand it to the teller.

Going in person saves the headache" unless you value your time more than you value a theoretical fraud risk (which is tiny if you just double-check your deposits). Honestly, the bigger scam is banks closing branches and then making us feel bad for using the apps they spent millions building.
