Saw my closing time drop from 25 minutes to 12 after a new cash recycler machine came in last month

We got one of those Verifone units installed for the tills and it cut my end-of-day counting by more than half. Anyone else see a big shift with those machines?

Haha sounds about right. Machines always find a way to make you work harder in new and exciting ways.

Maybe it's just me but I actually had more problems after we got a similar machine. The counting was faster but then the machine jammed on a couple $20s and I had to manually verify the whole drawer anyway. Lost more time fixing errors than I saved in the long run. Plus my staff struggled with the new workflow for the first few weeks, which slowed everything down even more. Idk, maybe our model is just a dud.

Funny how the jams always happen on $20s too, never the smaller bills. Had the same thing with our machine and it turned out the bills were just a little worn and the machine couldn't handle the texture. Ended up spending more time cleaning the sensors and running calibration tests than if I just had someone count by hand. The learning curve for staff was brutal too. Newer employees couldnt figure out the error codes and older managers refused to use it at all. We actually switched back to manual counting for a few weeks just to reset everyone's patience.
