My bank app double charged me and the fix took 3 calls
Last Tuesday I paid for gas at a Shell in Austin with my debit card and the app showed the $42 charge twice. I called my credit union and the first rep said to wait 5 business days but I pushed back and asked for a dispute form right then. They filed it on the spot and the duplicate dropped off in 2 days. Has anyone else had to fight their bank over pending charges that never clear on their own?

My buddy had the exact same thing happen with a hotel hold. The front desk said it would clear in a week, but it stayed there for like ten days. He finally called his bank and they reversed it while he was still on the phone. He told me the trick is to ask for the dispute form right away, just like you did. Banks will sit on pending charges forever if you let them. It's crazy how fast they move when you actually file something.
