Just lost a solid $50 to a parking meter app glitch in Chicago
I was rushing to a meeting downtown and used the ParkChicago app to pay for two hours. The app took the money from my account but never started the timer on the meter, so I got a ticket. I tried to dispute it with the city, but they said the payment and violation systems don't talk to each other, so I was out the ticket cost. Has anyone found a better way to handle mobile parking payments that doesn't risk this double charge?

Check the app's help section because they might have a direct way to fix this. I had a similar glitch once and found a form to submit for a refund on the payment. The ticket is a separate fight with the city, but you might get your parking fee back. Always take a screenshot of the confirmation screen right after you pay, it's the only proof you have.

Actually, the city sometimes accepts the app receipt as proof of payment for the ticket dispute.
