Hot take: My uncle told me to never buy a house with a basement in the South
He said they always flood and I laughed it off back in 2018 when I bought a cute little place in Greenville SC. Fast forward to last June after a solid week of rain and I had 4 inches of water in my finished basement. Cost me about $3,000 to fix the drywall and carpet. Anyone else ignore older family member advice and regret it?

Blew right past his warning and straight into a swimming pool inside your own house. $3,000 ouch but hey at least now you've got a good story next time he brings it up.

Gotta love when a DIY project turns into an unexpected indoor pool feature.

Did you ever fix that leak @tarar27 warned you about or did it just become part of the house now? I had a similar thing happen with a bathroom remodel a few years back where I thought I could save money by doing the plumbing myself. Ended up with water dripping through the ceiling into my living room for two days before I figured out where I went wrong. My husband still brings it up at family dinners like it's some kind of war story. At least this guy's disaster gave him a story to tell and a new feature in the house, even if it wasn't planned.
