Unpopular: I used to walk out of any movie with a voiceover narrator, then I saw The Informant!

Sat in a nearly empty theater in Portland last year and that goofy Matt Damon narration completely won me over between the ridiculous tangents and the deadpan delivery. It made me realize a bad gimmick just needs the right tone. What movie made you flip on a pet peeve?

Totally agree with you and @jakeb25 on that one.

The Informant! is such a good example of this. I had the same thing happen with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, the constant narration in that movie should have annoyed me but the snarky tone just hooked me from the first scene. Sometimes you just need the right voice to make it work.

The Informant is such a weirdly perfect movie for that. Damon's voiceover is so deadpan and clueless you can't help but laugh. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is another great one, the whole back and forth between Downey and Kilmer feels like two buddies just riffing. @reesemiller knows what I mean about that kind of vibe, it either clicks or it doesn't. I once tried to do a snarky voiceover on a home video and it came out like a bad podcast intro, so I learned my lesson quick.
