Battlefield Earth gets way too much hate
I finally sat down and watched Battlefield Earth last weekend and honestly it's not as bad as everyone says. The acting is goofy and the accents are all over the place but the whole premise of humans being kept as farm animals is actually pretty cool sci-fi. I think people just love piling on because it's trendy to hate on Travolta. Has anyone else actually given it a fair chance and found something to like?

Humans being kept as farm animals" - that part got me thinking about that time my cousin tried to start a chicken farm in his garage. He bought like forty chicks and they took over his whole basement before his wife put her foot down. Anyway, yeah the movie has some cool concepts buried under all that weirdness. The whole Psychlo thing with the breathing apparatus was kinda unique too, even if the effects haven't aged great.

Yeah my buddy watched it last year and he actually liked it too. He said the first hour was rough but it grew on him. He's the type who watches every sci-fi movie like a mission. He told me the part where they train using the old flight simulator was surprisingly tense. He also said the visual effects reminded him of a fever dream from 2001. But he stands by it, says it's a guilty pleasure at least.

The thing nobody talks about is how the movie actually nailed the whole "dumbed down humanity" idea. Like the scene where they find the old books and can't even read them anymore. That hit different when you think about how fast we lose skills between generations. My grandpa knew how to fix a carburetor and I can't even change my own oil. That part of the movie felt real in a weird way.
