Spent $75 on a course that taught me to click buttons I already click
Paid $75 for a two hour webinar on "managing up" because my boss never reads my updates. The whole thing was just slides telling me to send shorter emails with clear ask lines. I tried it for a week with my manager, and he still hasn't opened the last four I sent, which I can see because we share a calendar tool with read receipts. The instructor also pushed a $40 workbook at the end, which felt like the actual point of the class. I get more help from the free HR pamphlet in the break room. Did anyone else here pay for a class that just restated stuff you already knew? I want to know if it's just me or if these things are always a cash grab.
Wait, you paid 75 bucks to learn how to send emails you were already sending? The read receipt thing is the real kicker here. Dude can see you sent them, still won't open them, and the class told you to do the exact same thing but with a clearer subject line? That's like paying someone to teach you how to breathe. The $40 workbook at the end is just the cherry on top, they hit you with the upsell right when you're sitting there feeling dumb about the first purchase. Next time just buy yourself a nice lunch and save the receipts, at least the sandwich won't try to sell you a binder.
