My boss's "quick check-in" meetings are the real reason our crew keeps quitting
Everybody at my gym blames the pay or the hours for people leaving, but I've watched 4 trainers quit in 6 months and 3 of them said the same thing on their way out: the 15 minute check-ins our manager holds twice a week. He calls them quick but they always run long, and he spends the whole time listing what you did wrong in front of the other trainers. I started keeping a note on my phone of how much of each meeting was actual coaching vs. criticism, and after 8 weeks it was about 10 minutes gripes to 2 minutes help. Anyone else deal with a boss who dresses up a dressing-down as a check-in?
