Serious question, why do relatives think a mug with a random quote is a real gift?
I have gotten 9 mugs in the past 2 years from the same aunt. Not joking. 9. Each one has some saying on it like "World's Best Napper" or "Coffee First." I don't even drink coffee. My kitchen cabinet in my apartment in Bakersfield is packed with them and I can't throw them out because she asks about them. Last Christmas she handed me a box and I already knew it was another mug before I opened it. What gets me is she spends like $15 to $20 each on these things when she could just ask what I actually want. So my real question is this: what do you even say to someone who keeps doing this without hurting their feelings? Do I just start a mug shelf and smile forever? Anyone else stuck in a gift loop like this?
