I ditched the PCT for the Oregon Coast Trail, no regrets

Everyone in this sub talks about the PCT like it's the only long trail that matters. Last June I had two weeks off and planned to do the section near Crater Lake, but the snowpack was brutal. I switched to the Oregon Coast Trail instead, which barely gets mentioned here. The trail is 382 miles and I only did the southern half from Brookings to Florence. The beach walking was tough on my knees, but I traded mountain views for tide pools, sea stacks, and no altitude sickness. I also never had to filter water from a questionable creek, there was a faucet at almost every state park. Has anyone else skipped a classic mountain route for a coastal one and found it more rewarding? Or am I the only one who thinks the PCT is overrated for casual thru-hikers?
