Took me 3 holiday dinners to figure out why Uncle Ray kept bringing up my old layoff
Every Thanksgiving my Uncle Ray would ask how work was going, and then find a way to bring up the time I got laid off in 2019. I spent two years dodging it, changing seats, even volunteering to do dishes. Then my cousin pulled me aside last month and told me Ray got let go at 58 and never found anything again, so he mentions mine because I bounced back and he didn't. Now I just answer him straight and ask about his woodshop, and the whole table relaxes. Anyone else got a relative like that, where the annoying thing is really about them?
