Everybody says get a broker for peace of mind, but I booked my own carrier from Phoenix to Boise and saved $340
When I moved from Phoenix to Boise two months ago, every forum post I read said to use a broker so you have someone to call when things go wrong. I went straight to a small carrier I screened myself, got a $980 quote, and the truck showed up on the exact day in the 4 hour window they gave me. My coworker used a broker for the same route the same week, paid $1,320, and his pickup got pushed back 3 days with almost no heads up. I get that brokers can help on tricky routes or tight timelines, but for a simple one way move on a common route I honestly think people are paying hundreds extra for a middleman. What routes have you all moved where going direct actually bit you?
