Chat with an old timer changed how I look at diagnostics

I was helping a retired mechanic named Jerry with his truck last week, and he told me I was overthinking a no-start issue. He said 'stop reading the code and look at the damn fuel pressure first.' It hit different because I was so focused on the scan tool I forgot the basics. Has anyone else had a moment where a simple tip from an older guy saved you time?
