My mom thought the Orion Nebula photo was fake until I explained it

I showed her a stacked image from my backyard telescope, and she said it looked like CGI from a movie. I had to break down how long exposures and filters make those colors pop. Now she asks to see new shots and even tries to spot the nebula herself. It's wild how one pic can turn skepticism into a shared hobby.

Wait, she went from calling it fake to actually trying to find it in the sky herself? That’s a complete 180, how does that even happen?

Come on Adam, people change their minds all the time. It's not that wild to go from doubting something to wanting to see it for yourself.

Remember my buddy who swore UFO sightings were just drunk people seeing planes. He watched some documentary last week that showed old military footage, and now he's out in his backyard every night with binoculars. It's exactly what @aaronprice is saying, where a little bit of new info flips a switch from making fun of something to being genuinely curious. Makes you wonder what finally clicks for someone, you know?
