The coffee shop meetup that killed my elevator pitch habit
Went to that new coworking spot off Camelback last Tuesday for the weekly mixer. Some guy from a landscaping company spent 10 minutes talking about his sprinkler timers instead of his services. I caught myself doing the same thing the week before at a Scottsdale Chamber event, rattling off my LLC formation date like anyone cared. Realized networking here works better when you ask about their biggest headache, not your own resume. So now I lead with a question about their slow season or supplier issues. Has anyone else ditched the formal pitch and gotten better referrals from just listening? Took me about 8 events to figure that out, wish I had earlier.
