Kind of wild to look back at how much business cards have changed

I was cleaning out my desk drawer this morning and found a stack of old cards from like 10 years ago. Some of them had those glossy coatings and embossed logos that cost a fortune to print. Now I just tell people to scan my phone or look me up on LinkedIn. Read a stat the other day that said 88% of business cards get thrown away within a week, which honestly checks out. Has anyone else pretty much stopped carrying physical cards to most events?

Funny enough, I once had a guy hand me a card that was literally made of recycled cardboard with seeds embedded in it so you could plant it after. I guess he wanted me to grow a tree where his contact info used to be. Not sure if that's better than tossing it in the trash or just making the planet deal with more weird business card experiments. Now I just bump phones with people like a dork and hope the NFC actually works. The whole ritual feels like it went from handing out mini resumes to playing a weird tech game of tag.

Planting a tree with your contact info is definitely a new level of corporate guilt-tripping.
