That rainy Tuesday dig in Dorset turned up something wild
I was volunteering on a site near Dorchester last spring and we'd had three straight days of rain. The trench was a muddy mess and I figured we'd just be cleaning finds for the afternoon. Then my trowel hit something solid under the clay, turned out to be a small Roman brooch with a blue glass bead still in it. The supervisor said it was from about 200 AD and I couldn't stop staring at it. Has anyone else had a day where the weather made you want to quit but then the ground gave up something amazing?

Woah that's insane, I once found a half-buried dog toy in my backyard after a storm lol.

Found dog toys, random socks, weird coins - the ground is basically the universe's lost and found @jennysullivan lol. Always feels like a little glimpse into someone else's day that got buried.

The ground really does hold onto all the random stuff people lose or toss. I've noticed it's almost like a timeline of what people were doing in that spot years ago. Found a rusted key ring near my driveway that probably fell out of someone's pocket ages back when this neighborhood was new. Little time capsules everywhere if you pay attention.
