Found out the Great Pyramid has a notch cut into its side that nobody can fully explain, been reading about it all week
I was reading through some old archaeology write ups and found out there is a big gap in the Great Pyramid's stonework about 150 feet up on one side. It is called the Notch of the Great Pyramid and people have known about it since at least the 1800s, but nobody agrees on why it is there. Some say it was cut by ancient looters looking for treasure, others think it was a spot where workers stood during construction. It is about 3 feet deep and you can see it in old photos from the 1880s. What gets me is that after all these years of study, such a clear feature on the most famous pyramid still has no solid answer. Has anyone here seen it in person or read a theory that actually holds up?
Oh wow I went down this same rabbit hole last year! I remember staring at those old photos for way too long trying to spot it. The looter theory never made sense to me since why would they stop at 3 feet deep, feels like such a weird spot for anything.
