Watched my climbing technique change over 15 years - last week I finally retired my old rope.
About 3 years ago I started swapping from a Blake's hitch to a mechanical Prusik, and last week I cut up my last piece of 10mm line that I'd had since 2005. Has anyone else hung onto old gear way longer than you should because it just felt right?

2005 I think I still have a pair of shorts from that year, but I wouldn't trust my life to them. Cutting up an old rope must feel like saying goodbye to a faithful dog that's been chewing on your leg for 15 years. I bet you stared at that rope pile for like 20 minutes before you finally pulled the trigger on that cut, didn't you? At least now you can tell yourself the ghost of your old climbing style is finally at rest.

Did you end up keeping a small piece of it for a keychain or something sentimental like that?
