The old two-piece drain trap taught me a lesson in Tampa

Been swapping out those plastic one-piece traps on dishwashers for years, but a 1987 Maytag I pulled apart last week still had the metal two-piece design and it came apart clean in about 4 minutes. The plastic ones always crack or strip at the threads, so I spent 20 minutes chiseling one off a Whirlpool afterward. Any of you guys bother stocking the old style parts or do you just weld plastic with epoxy like I do?
