Showerthought: I finally figured out why that old Maytag washer kept leaking after three visits
Last month, I was at a job in a basement apartment on Elm Street, staring at this machine for the third time. I'd replaced the pump and the hoses, but it still left a puddle. I was about to order a new tub seal when I noticed a tiny, almost invisible crack in the plastic detergent dispenser tray... water was dripping from there down the back, mimicking a pump leak. Has anyone else had a leak that turned out to be something totally simple like that?

That "tiny, almost invisible crack" is always the last place you look.

My buddy spent two hours checking his whole engine before spotting the hairline fracture in the radiator hose.

Oh, that "last place you look" line is so true. I once spent a whole weekend trying to find a coolant leak, getting more frustrated by the hour. I had the whole car apart. Turned out to be a pinhole in a heater line tucked up under the dash. You finally spot it and just want to laugh at all the time wasted.
