The moment I realized I was skipping the best part of anime openings

I used to always skip anime openings to save time, thought they were just filler. Then last week I let the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood opening play all the way through, and I noticed all these little story hints in the animation that I missed for like 5 years. The visuals actually show character arcs and plot points if you pay attention. Now I watch every opening. Did anyone else grow up skipping them and then have a big "oh" moment?

Ngl I feel personally attacked by this post because I skipped the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood intro for YEARS too. Honestly thought I was just saving time by getting straight to the action. Then my friend made me watch it one time and I saw the little shadow hints of the homunculi and I felt like a total idiot. Tbh now I watch ever y opening like I'm taking a final exam on the plot.

Bro this is way too relatable because I did the exact same thing with the first FMA anime back in the day. @bennett.patricia I feel you on that final exam thing though, now I sit there and try to decode every single frame like it's a puzzle. The homunculi shadows were such a slick move by the animators, I literally rewound it five times when my buddy pointed them out. It's crazy how much foreshadowing they pack into those 90 seconds if you just pay attention. I still skip some openings on rewatches but not Brotherhood, that one earned its spot.

It's funny how we skip stuff only to realize the boring parts were the best all along.
