Switched from subbed to dubbed and it changed everything for me

I used to be super strict about only watching anime in Japanese with subtitles for like 6 years straight. Thought dubbed was for casuals or whatever. But last month I was working from home and tried a dubbed episode of Frieren just to have it on in the background. Honestly the English voice cast did a killer job and I actually caught more of the story without reading. Has anyone else flipped sides on this debate or am I just getting lazy in my old age?

Buddy of mine swore by subs til he fell asleep during an episode and woke up speaking English better than the characters.

People act like watching anime with subtitles vs dubs is some deep moral choice when it's really just whatever works for your brain lol. I've seen dudes get legit angry about it like someone insulted their family. You do you though. Frieren's dub is solid, no argument there. It's just funny seeing folks treat a viewing preference like a personality trait. A lot of the sub purists probably couldn't even pass a basic listening test on the Japanese dialogue anyway.
