Hot take: the anime fandom's obsession with power scaling ruined a good meetup for me in Denver last Saturday
I went to a watch party for the new season and three guys spent 40 minutes arguing if Goku could beat Saitama instead of actually watching the show, so I just put on the next episode and turned it up. Am I the only one who thinks debating who wins is way less fun than just enjoying the story together?

Bro this happens at every group watch I swear. What works for me is just setting a rule before we start, like first timers get to talk during the episode but the second someone starts a versus debate we hit pause on the talk and play on the show. Half the time they drop it once they see nobody cares. The loud ones usually just want an audience, so don't give them one. You did the right thing turning it up honestly.
