DAE used to watch anime at 2x speed to get through backlogs, now I rewatch the same 12 episodes on normal speed for a month
I used to treat my watchlist like a job. Every season I would cram 10 or 12 shows, skip intros, and bump playback to 2x so I could clear everything before the next batch dropped. Then about a year ago I caught myself fast forwarding through a fight scene in Mob Psycho and realized I had no idea what actually happened in the episode. So I tried something dumb. I picked one show, Mob Psycho season 2, and told myself I had to watch it at normal speed with no skipping. It took me 5 weeks to get through 13 episodes, and I enjoyed it more than the last 3 seasons combined. Now I have 40 shows sitting unwatched in my queue and I honestly do not care anymore. The weird part is I remember plot points and character names now, which never happened when I was binging. So my question is, did anyone else burn out on the backlog grind and just go back to watching one show at a time like it is 2009?
So you went from speedrunning anime like it was a chore to watching the same 12 episodes like comfort food. Honestly that sounds less like a hobby and more like a breakup, but hey, whatever gets you through Mob Psycho.
