Spent $200 on a fancy screwdriver set and it was junk
Bought a high end ratcheting screwdriver kit online for alarm panel work. The bits stripped after 3 jobs and the handle cracked when I dropped it from 4 feet. Went back to my old $15 Husky set from Home Depot. Anyone else get burned by tool hype?

Dropped it from 4 feet and the handle cracked" - bro I felt that in my soul. My last "premium" tool splurge was a $250 hammer that I swung once and chipped the face on a nail head. Felt like such a clown for falling for the marketing hype when my grandpa's old beater hammer from the 80s is still going strong. These companies know guys like us will pay extra for a fancy looking tool, but half the time they're just rebranded Chinese junk with a higher price tag. Your Husky set is probably gonna outlive all of us at this rate.

Honestly I stopped buying expensive tools after I realized my dad's old stuff from the 90s still works better. Now I just grab whatever's on sale at the hardware store and it holds up fine.

Wait, a $250 hammer that chipped on the first swing? That's next level clownery right there. @terry_lewis21 I woulda been right back at the store demanding a refund, no way I'm eating that kind of money for a tool that can't even handle one nail. My granddad's old Craftsman hammer has a crack in the handle and a bent claw, but it still drives nails straight. These premium brands are just selling a story, not quality.
