I finally checked the panel wiring on a 6 month old install and found something that made me redo my whole checklist
Went back to a house on Oakview in Naperville last Tuesday because the homeowner kept getting false alarms, and the EOL resistor on zone 4 was twisted and taped instead of crimped. I got lazy on that one in September and it cost me a full callback, so now I crimp everything, no exceptions. Anyone else got a shortcut they dropped after one bad callback?
Been there with a twisted splice on a door contact that came back to bite me three weeks later. Did the same lazy thing, just twisted the wires and wrapped them up, and the homeowner called at 11pm saying the alarm kept going off. Felt awful driving back out there for something I could have done right the first time. Now I keep my crimpers in my pouch no matter what, even on the quick jobs. That one callback taught me more than any training ever did.
