Shoutout to my old habit of using paper towels for oil filter changes
I used to just grab a roll of paper towels and wrap them around the filter every time I pulled one off a Cessna 172 at our shop in Phoenix. It worked okay but left a mess of lint and torn bits everywhere. Switched to using a $8 reusable silicone filter cup last year after a coworker showed me his, and honestly I haven't looked back. Has anyone else found a better way to avoid dripping oil all over the hangar floor?

That silicone cup trick saved me from cleaning oil drips off concrete for hours on end.

Nah, paper towels are fine if you know what you're doing.

@oliver_wilson49 my buddy tried drying off his cast iron with a paper towel once and ended up with little lint bits all over it. Took forever to pick them all off before seasoning.
