Dropped $120 on a borescope and it paid for itself in one job
I was fighting a exhaust leak on a 737 for two days. Finally caved and bought a Depstech borescope on Amazon for $120. Poked it into the nacelle and found a cracked clamp I never would have seen with a mirror. That one find saved me pulling the whole engine cowling off. Anyone else got a tool they resisted buying that turned out worth every penny?

Is that @nelson.nancy exactly right though... I mean $120 feels like a lot when you're staring at the checkout page but man, getting that cowling off is easily a full shift of work if not more if something goes sideways. I held off on getting a good borescope for way too long because I figured mirrors and patience would always get the job done. But once you actually use one of those things you realize how many problems you've been leaving on the table because you just couldn't see them. It's the kind of tool that doesn't just save you time it saves you from that awful feeling of having to tear everything apart for nothing. Glad it worked out for you.
