Bought a $40 borescope off Amazon to check a cylinder, and now I use it on everything but engines
Picked one up on a whim to peek inside cylinder 3 on a 172 during a compression check last month. Camera worked fine, found what I needed. But the weird part is what I started doing after. I snaked it behind the panel to find a chafed wire I'd been chasing for two days. Then I used it to read the serial number off a data plate I couldn't even see. Then my kid lost a Lego in the couch and yeah, I used it for that too. Here's my question though. At what point does a tool stop being the tool you bought and turn into the tool you reach for first? Because I'm not sure a $40 camera should be outworking my mirror on a stick, but here we are. What's the tool in your box that ended up doing way more than you bought it for?
