My AI chatbot kept hallucinating part numbers, here's how I fixed it in 2 hours

Been using an AI assistant to help write work orders and it kept inventing torque specs that didn't exist. Tried telling it to be more careful, that didn't do anything. Then I started pasting the actual service manual pages into the chat before asking any question, and suddenly it stopped making stuff up. Now I treat the AI like a new apprentice, you have to hand it the paper before it can read the numbers. Has anyone else found that giving the AI reference material up front solves more than any fancy prompt ever will?

Ha, yes! I did the exact same thing with our maintenance logs. I was getting so frustrated when it would confidently list off part numbers that were, like, one digit off from the real ones. Once I started pasting the exploded diagrams and the spec sheets straight into the chat first, it was a night and day difference. It's like the AI just needed something concrete to look at instead of trying to guess from memory.
