Vent: everyone says you need a $10k emergency fund and I think that number scares people into doing nothing
I run a small pest control shop in Bakersfield and I hear this advice everywhere. When I started, saving $10k felt impossible, so I saved nothing for two years, which was way worse. Once I aimed for one month of bills, about $1,800, I actually got there in five months. Anyone else think the big number does more harm than good?
Totally get this. Aiming for some huge number just makes you freeze up and save nothing, which is the worst spot to be in. Hitting that first small goal feels way better and actually gets you moving.
