Just dropped $600 on a new water heater and the old one almost killed me
My water heater from like 2005 started making this weird popping noise last week, so I finally called a guy out. Turns out there was a gas leak near the connection that I'd been ignoring for months (oops). The whole replacement cost me $600 installed, but honestly that's way cheaper than a hospital visit or blowing up my house. Has anyone else put off a home repair and then found out it was way worse than you thought?

Ignoring a gas leak is just playing real life Russian roulette with extra steps. Glad your house is still in one piece and you got off with just a lighter wallet.

Read somewhere gas company bills are actually cheaper than the fine for not reporting a leak.
