PSA: check your roof warranty before you call anyone about hail damage
My insurance adjuster showed up Tuesday and told me my roof claim was fine, but then asked who installed the shingles back in 2019. Turns out the original installer in Rio Rancho is gone and the manufacturer warranty never got registered, so I am stuck with a $3,100 deductible instead of $500. I am waiting on a callback from the company that did my neighbor's roof on Valle Vista. Anybody here deal with a missing warranty card and actually get it fixed?
Managed to lose my own warranty paperwork in a filing cabinet somewhere between a 2019 tax return and my kid's kindergarten art, so I feel your pain on the $3,100 surprise. What worked for my neighbor was calling the shingle maker directly with the address and install date, since a lot of them keep a record of the job even if the card never came back. It took him about three weeks and two transfers, but they honored it and his deductible dropped back down. Worth a shot before you eat that difference.
