Plumbing quote doubled after they saw my foundation

Last month I got a quote for a repipe at $4,800, then the plumber walked my crawl space and suddenly it was $9,200. He said the floor joists were 'unusual' but wouldn't explain more. Has anyone else had contractors hike prices mid-inspection in the Northeast Heights?

Wait, so his price went up because YOUR house has "unusual" joists? Sounds like his wallet was acting up and needed a boost. If he can't explain what's unusual, that's not a foundation problem, that's a "I saw an extra five grand in your eyes" problem. An extra $4,400 for joists he won't even describe is wild. Get two more guys out there and make this clown put his mystery findings in writing before you hand over a dime.
