Found a fully stocked food court kiosk at the old Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights

Went in through a broken service door last weekend and the whole food court area was a mess. But one pretzel stand still had bags of salt, cups, and even a cash drawer with some coins in it. It looked like someone just walked away mid-shift years ago. Has anyone else seen something left that complete in a dead mall?

Check the cash drawer. Were the coins all old, or was there a mix with newer stuff? That could pin down when it was abandoned. @wendyking is right about the time freeze feeling, but the money makes it real. Did it feel wrong to even touch it?

Man, that's a wild find. It feels like a time capsule, like the whole place just froze one day. Must have been super eerie to walk through.

Totally get what wendyking means about the time capsule vibe. Read a whole forum thread once about a dead Kmart where the photo lab still had undeveloped film from like 2003 just sitting in the machine. That pretzel stand with the cash drawer is next level, though. Makes you wonder what the last person working there was thinking before they just dipped.

But what if it's not that deep? Maybe the last worker just quit on a bad day and nobody bothered to clear the stand. It's not a time capsule, it's just a messy job someone left for later.
