Finding kids' toys scattered in empty mall play areas creeps me out
I was at the old Pine Grove Mall last weekend, taking pictures. The kiddie play zone still had plastic balls and little ride-on toys everywhere. It's weird to see them just sitting there with no kids around. I mean, why would people leave that stuff behind when the place closed? At another spot, I saw a faded Barney figure covered in grime. It makes me think about all the happy times that happened there. Now it's just silent and kind of sad.

The faded Barney, what kid do you picture leaving it?

Maybe some nostalgic adult left it.

That grimy Barney at Pine Grove Mall is just something left by a sentimental parent. kelly_schmidt has a point about nostalgic adults. These items aren't creepy, they're historical artifacts. The ride-on toys and plastic balls show what the place was, not what it lacks. It's like a museum exhibit without the signs. If anything, it's a quiet tribute to better times.
